Self love. You know you need it. You know you should be practicing it, but do you?
Personally, we’re hard pressed to practice self love unless we’re listening to our favorite Lizzo songs, or we have a moment to ourselves without someone needing something from us - neither of which happen on a daily basis.
Can we all agree that we - collectively - should be practicing self love? Yes! Great! Let’s work on it together and learn how to incorporate crystals into the practice.
It’s important to differentiate the term “self love” from “self care.” Self love is based on internal reflection. For example, it means not speaking negatively about your appearance in the mirror when you get out of the shower. Self care, however, is the act of taking care of your mind and body. The two may overlap at times, but we’re here to chat about the process of loving yourself.
Self love is deeply connected to healing. Now, healing can mean more than recovering from trauma. Maybe you need to heal from the stress of your day, or a brief interaction with someone who drained your energy. Remember not all healing looks the same so there’s no need to judge - or rank - your own emotions.
“Just for the record darling, not all positive change feels positive in the beginning.”
S.C. Lourie
Practicing self love doesn’t need to be a formal affair. It could be as simple as a quick thought during a red light as you’re driving to the grocery store. Or taking 10-seconds to close your eyes and repeat an affirmation while you’re brewing a cup of tea. As you acknowledge these feelings, you may realize there’s not an answer, solution or objective to having self love. Your practice may simply be the journey or intention of finding compassion for your mind and body.
Crystals boost vibrational energy and are an excellent tool to add to your practice. They help you focus, strengthen your own energy, and encourage a positive mindset.
There are a variety of stones available to incorporate into a self love practice. Some of the stones we recommend include:
Choose one or a combination of these stones while meditating or working with affirmations.
Quick affirmation: “I love myself at this moment.”
Deeper affirmation: “I give myself the grace and time to move past self doubt. I move forward with a positive mind to love myself at this moment.”
